Description
My Eyes are Starlight
I saw them coming
The hollow people
I saw too
The bird headed ones
Talons with fresh blood
Wings to fly the stars
And you,
All penitence and defiance
Swathed in dark linen
Shrouded in memory
Your kiss, bitter
Cold in the morning light
Was I just an idea?
Brief and without form
A comfort in the night
So, aeons passed
Another age of the earth
And now, beware
I may be hollow too
As I neglect to clean the blood
And my eyes are starlight

The poem was a 3am, insomnia induced stream of consciousness, and as such it doesn't have a definite meaning but is a work of dreamlike surrealism in much the same way as the image I have finally made to go with it. Other influences for the image include ancient Middle Eastern goddesses Ishtar and Astarte, and prehistoric bird-headed goddess figurines.
